the juke hounds

The Juke Hounds play the Rust Belt Rockin' Blues. They are the only band in the world to do so because they invented the genre. Like Robert Johnson played Delta Blues, and like Muddy Waters invented Chicago Blues, and like Stevie Ray Vaughan played a latter day version of the Texas Blues tradition, the Juke Hounds play the Rust Belt Blues, a form inspired by all of the aforementioned traditions but with a sound as different as Northeast Ohio is different from the Delta, Chicago, or Texas.  The Rust Belt has its' own reasons to sing the blues, and its' own sound.

The Juke Hounds original material is what makes them artists, but they also know how to get a crowd rockin' with covers of songs by artists like the aforementioned Muddy Waters, as well as Junior Wells, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, and more contemporary bluesmen such as Robert Cray, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Tinsley Ellis, with a few bluesy, classic rock tunes by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top tossed into the musical stew as well.

The Hounds were formed in late 2006 when harp player, Jimmy Kormanik, a founding member of The Business, and vocalist/guitarist Bob Gardner met while playing in another Akron area Blues band. Soon after, Jimmy and Bob decided to put together a band of their own, so they rounded out the line up with veteran musicians Tom Harvey on bass, Doug Barber, (formerly of the Blues Sisters Band) on keys, and Chris Rossvanes (of Fins to the Left) on drums.

The band likes to keep the tempo and the energy up, for a high-energy blend of blues, rock, and funk.
